TRIO Student Support Services-ASPIRE

Welcome to TRIO Student Support Services-ASPIRE!  Student Support Services is part of a network of federally funded programs called TRIO, whose objective is to expand educational access to and opportunity in, higher education for all Americans.  While student financial aid programs help students overcome financial barriers to higher education, TRIO programs help students overcome class, social, and cultural barriers to higher education.

The University of Montevallo has had a Student Support Services (ASPIRE) program since 1979; and annually provides individual and group services to 200 students.  The mission of ASPIRE is to increase the academic success, retention and graduate rates of first generation (neither parent/guardian has completed a Bachelor’s degree), low-income students and individuals with a disability.

An important aspect of the ASPIRE Program is that it provides a consistent and ongoing support system that program participants can depend upon throughout their time here at UM; and they may participate throughout their enrollment at UM.

If students are committed to achieving their academic goals, they will find great benefits in being an ASPIRE participant!

The ASPIRE Program office is located in Main Hall, lower level room B61.  It is easily accessible from the parking lot off Vine Street and is right next to the Anna Irvin Dining Hall.
